Quilt piecing on my Singer 301a
Loving this overcast day to get some piecing done. The Singer 301a is my current favorite machine for this job. So much so that I set her up in the front room so I can look out the window while I sew. This is a straight stitch only with reverse. Love the style! Smooth, quick, and accurate. This cabinet is also one of my favorites, easy to straddle the left support leg so I can position myself directly in front of the needle. The 301 is a slant, making the visibility better IMHO. Love the clear marks on the plate, and the 1/8" foot. I have used 1/4" feet for piecing and prefer the 1/8" with the seam guide screwed into the bed. More accuracy. This machine has the potted motor, meaning it's gear driven with no belt. I purchased this one from a Craigslist ad, was stored in a unit for years. She was very dirty but with time, and elbow grease, she's running like new!
